Jay's Art Series: Life not Lost

The Deep Ellum community is evolving with a newer and renovated downtown Dallas. This change has been made apparent with the current construction for a Dart Rail station in the place of the Deep Ellum Bridge. Many knew this area as a highlight of the Deep Ellum which represented an entrance to the Deep Ellum arts community. As a resident of downtown I have experienced the changing nature of the landscape and have captured this through photography. I hope to show a unique vantage point of places that are new, old and those that have been “unseen” by any new visitor to Dallas. The life of the Deep Ellum is not lost, and will continue to grow in its eclectic environment that many have grown to love.

The combination of art and architecture has always driven my motivation for photography. With this series I wanted to highlight the vibrant colors that give character and life to this unique area of Deep Ellum. I focused on using architectural elements to make natural frame for their composition.

Deep Ellum

On tuesday, right after work, we walked around Deep Ellum to take some pictures. We didn't stay out too long because of the Texas heat which has finally arrived. And we got Big Brain Academy for the Wii so we'll probably stay inside for a while and play!

Sunset at the lake

Last sunday we went bike riding at the lake just before sunset.

Super Secret Art Project

And now some exciting news: we have some digital art project we wanna do this summer to present at the On My Own Time art contest in september. Jay already won 2 years in a row in the photography category so this year we're in for a change (Jay will still be presenting some of his best pics)
Right now everything is top secret, we can only reveal that it will involve lots of flower pics like this one and some...

Week-end

It was a loooong week-end for us, that was great! We had a dumpling/Wii party with our friends Brad and Adam and Jay's new coworker Wes. We went bike riding around the lake and set up a new personel record of 40min. We also went to the lake at sunset to take pictures of the cranes, they are all at the dam at sunrise and sunset, it's beautiful.

Fireworks and a Symphony

The 4th of July fireworks at Fair Park were really too short. The Dallas Symphony Orchestra was great, they played a lot and were really good. We had a very good spot for taking pictures and were lucky to not have any rain. Lots of people were there and everybody was having a great time together.

Fort Worth Zoo - Part 2

Fort Worth Zoo

The zoo was a lot of fun, it rained a little but the weather was mostly nice (pretty unusual these days) And we could really see the animals from close, hence some nice shots!
We love going to Fort Worth, we always have a good time and great BBQ
